Overview

“What's Your Weather Today” is an interaction in Hunt Library on Carnegie Mellon’s campus. It is a mindful activity of documenting and interpreting daily emotions through visual reflections and journaling spaces. The resulting artifact is taken along with the participant to either be displayed on their person or kept as a personal item representing that day.

STEP 01:

Follow Signs to the 3rd Floor

See the stickers on Hunt Library signage prompting you to come to the 3rd floor. Then, approach the “What’s Your Weather” interaction.

STEP 02:

Pick a Card

Walk up to the space and pick up a card.

STEP 03:

Stamp + Write!

Use stamps to decorate the front of the post card according to how you are feeling today. On the other side, there is also a space for you to write a reflection on your day

STEP 04:

Tear the Tag

Tear out the attached tag on the card and add a string to your tag to then be attached to your person.

Process Overview

02. Illustrating

Our group decided to co-create modular illustrations. We each made some body’s, eyes, and graphics which we then combined to make each character.

02. Prototyping

We began by storyboarding and crafting the interaction through a series of user journey’s and many different physical prototypes.

03. Fabrication

After the prototyping, we went into laser cutting all the components including the rubber for the stamps, and assembling it. This part of the project had us in the wood shop for a few days!
